Adenoma (hyperplasia) of the prostate gland is one of the most common diagnoses among men aged 50+ who visit a urologist. Gradually growing, the inner part of the prostate squeezes the urethra, leading to partial or complete impossibility of emptying the bladder.
The purpose of the operation is to remove the overgrown part of the prostate gland and restore the normal outflow of urine. With a prostate volume of up to 120 cm3, we use an endoscopic method of treatment – bipolar transurethral resection (TUR), which, unlike the older (monopolar) technology, is more effective and devoid of a number of negative consequences, such as TUR syndrome, contact burns, and the effect on the performance of pacemakers.
For patients with a large prostate volume (more than 120 cm3), we provide the possibility of a robot-assisted operation, which is an alternative to open prostate removal.
The use of the robot makes it possible to reduce the volume of blood loss, cases of urinary incontinence, the occurrence of strictures (cicatricial narrowing), significantly facilitates the course of the postoperative period (minimization of pain, early activation, early return to daily activity).
